Vintage Large Aqua Swan Hand Painted Moriyama Japan 1920s 14.5" x 8.5" x 8.75"
Graceful ceramic swan in light aqua with golden beak and feet is in excellent vintage condition. There are few little black spots that are under the glaze so they are original to the piece. The swan is approximately 14.5" long by 8.5" wide by 8.75" high. The mark on the bottom of a stylized M in a shield with wreath stands for Moriyama Mori-machi and was used by the Moriyama Factory in Japan around the mid 1920s. The mark also states "HAND PAINTED JAPAN".
This beautiful swan can be used in so many ways. While the base is unsealed, the inside of the swan is sealed. It would make a wonderful centerpiece with an inner bowl to protect the swan from the water. It was used by a former owner on the counter of a vintage bath to hold rolled hand towels. A wonderful display.
Don't let this one get away, it will be a great accent piece.
